I've found this to be one of the best time lines referring to the Old Testament. Of course, the dates are all up for debate because it was so long ago.

As for how did they live to be so long, that is also up for debate. You have many who strongly believe that the people of the old Testament really did live that long. They believe that mutations in our bodies, disease, and degrading of the environment drastically shortened our life spans. Science is bringing them back up again, but they do believe Adam really lived to be 930 and so on.

Others believe they were on a different calendar system. Their year equaled a month, or lunar cycle for example. Some believe a "year" was about 3 months our time. These conversions translate their ages into a range more closely aligned with what we know today.

So, the official answer is that there is no 100% certain answer about Adam, Noah, and everyone else's age in the Old Testament. Like the rest of it, it's about faith and what you believe!
