I am in my mid-thirities and have high school aged children. I am planning on attending college in the Fall of 2006. I have had no college classes until recently, 2005, I attended the University I worked for and enrolled in Intro to International Studies, that same year I enrolled in English 100 because I wanted to start from the beginning with my writing skills. I have worked as a secretary, currently legal, for over 20 years. I have taken time off to care for my three daughters from time to time. So now I am ready to jump into college and find a career I will enjoy. So I say all this to ask where to I start? I am interested in World history, I have read many books on my own, I am interested in languages, French, Italian, and Greek. I am also interested in English, Writing, Geography and International Studies.
I was planning on going to a 2 year college to take my electives then transfer to a University where they offer a BS with a paralegal certificate. I am not sure what I want to do with this degree, as of yet. I envision becoming a paralegal, preferably with traveling internationally. I also would like to continue my education towards a Master's degree once I'm working in the field I have chosen.
My plans are to go to Italy next summer I will take an Italian language class for three weeks; I have never been to Italy, I am very excited about the opportunity to go. I would really like to learn more about international issues and for it to be useful towards a career.
There you have it. I am looking for what classes specifically should I start with, so I can map out every semester what classes I am taking. I work in the evenings which would allow for me to take classes during the day. I am very motivated about starting school; I received A's in both of the classes I took last year. I am currently teaching myself Greek (I have a Greek friend, who says my Greek is very good) so I feel as though I am very motivated and ready to embark on these goals and dreams of mine.
