I am most comfortable in full lenth skirt or dress suits in darker earth tones but will get slacks if that is not ok. What type and color of shoes should I wear,(I prefer boots of any kind)and what type of purse matches. Oh, and is a white blouse ok to wear given the season? FYI: I am a 30 year old, coucasion, 5'2, size 18W to 20W, with long straight auburn hair(should I wear it up?) who is completly clueless about fashion (I'm usually in with tight jeans, an oversized sweatshirt and Uggs or a uniform). I have the knowledge, experiance and finess to obtain a position in a "higher class" office but I need to dress the part. I am recently divorced, sole provider for my 8 year old, scared to death and really need a good position. I apoligize if I'm over explaining or asking too many questions. Please understand, this is very important to me, I'm open to any good advise given but I have no one else to ask. I will pay more if you need me to. Please help!

You do not need to pay more! It is great if you want to wear a skirt. No problem. I would not wear boots. You can find a pair of low heeled shoes, like loafers. Just something that matches your outfit. Black goes with anything.

As mentioned pastel...light colors are best. If your dress suits and/or skirt are dark, no problem, just wear a light colored blouse. You don't want to walk in with bold colors or frenetic prints. Solid colors if possible. Shoes to match. Boots are okay if you are wearing a long skirt.

If you are wearing a lifht outfit you might try a neutral shoe and bag color (bag goes with shoe color but not always). Most employers these days just want a neat, ckean apprearance. In the dental industry you are going to be covered with a work coat anyway. Make your hair look as neat and out of the way as possible...putting it up may be a good idea.

The main thing is for you to relax and realize that you are capable...that's the bottom line more than fashion so relax, be yourself. What's the worst that could happen? You'll just go on to the next interview.

Remember, you are also interviewing your prospective employer. You want to feel comfortable in a work environment. I think you just need to get out there and start giving out your resumes.

Another thing you can do is go to craigslist.com, click on your geopgraphic area and post an ad...they are free...for the position you are looking for.

Another site is Monster.com. Putting out the feelers will get you going and you can do this...believe in yourself, I believe in you! Best wishes, Barbara
